Setup

Setting up Kumo is designed to be as simple as possible while maintaining strict security boundaries.

Step 1 — Install Kumo Music

Install the Kumo Music Player app on your Android device.

  • Google Play — search for “Kumo Music Player”
  • Beta releases — early-access APKs are in the Labs section on benri.tech

Step 2 — Connect your cloud storage

When you first launch the app, you will be prompted to connect your music library.

  1. Select your storage provider — WebDAV, pCloud, Dropbox, or OneDrive.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in and authorize access.

Step 3 — Let your library index

Once connected, Kumo scans your storage for audio files — MP3, FLAC, M4A, OGG and other common formats.

  • Initial scan — depending on the size of your collection, this may take a few minutes.
  • Background refresh — Kumo periodically checks for new files, so your library stays up to date as you add music.

Step 4 — Configure caching (optional)

If you often listen where the connection is patchy — commuting, for instance — turn caching up:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Storage & Cache.
  3. Set the Cache Size Limit (2GB is a reasonable starting point).
