Known Issues
Last updated: 2026-08-21
This is a living list of issues we’re aware of and tracking. If you hit something not listed here, email support@benri.tech (or use Settings → Diagnostics → Export to send us a log).
Expected Behavior
Section titled “Expected Behavior”These are normal behaviors due to platform or system limitations, not defects:
Conversations require recent activity
Section titled “Conversations require recent activity”Replies work best for recent/active conversations. A conversation can show a red status / “needs a new message” if its reply token has expired (a Google Chat / watch power-management behavior, not a WristMSG bug).
- Workaround: Have that person message you again, which re-arms the conversation.
Merged Google accounts
Section titled “Merged Google accounts”Multiple Google accounts show as one merged list. Chat conversations from all signed-in Google accounts appear together with no per-account labels; replies still go to the correct account automatically.
Known Issues
Section titled “Known Issues”KI-002 · Samsung keyboard — brief flash before the keyboard opens
Section titled “KI-002 · Samsung keyboard — brief flash before the keyboard opens”- Affected: Some Samsung watches
- Symptom: Tapping the keyboard button shows a brief black screen with a cursor before the keyboard slides in. It works normally once it appears (this is cosmetic).
- Workaround: None needed, the keyboard works normally once it appears.
- Cause: Tied to the watch’s keyboard animation.
- Status: Known
KI-003 · Samsung: WristMSG missing from the battery optimisation list
Section titled “KI-003 · Samsung: WristMSG missing from the battery optimisation list”- Affected: Samsung Galaxy phones. Confirmed on Galaxy S23 Ultra. Not seen on Pixel.
- Symptom: You tap Fix on the battery warning in WristMSG. Android’s Unrestricted battery usage list opens — but WristMSG isn’t in it, even after scrolling to where it should be alphabetically. Waiting doesn’t help; it can stay missing indefinitely.
- Why it happens: A display bug in Samsung’s Settings app. WristMSG is in the list — Samsung’s screen just doesn’t draw that row. Nothing is wrong with your phone or WristMSG.
- Workaround:
- Scroll to where WristMSG should appear alphabetically.
- Tap the app immediately above or below that spot — any app will do.
- Press Back.
- WristMSG will now appear. Tap it and choose Unrestricted.
- While you’re there, set Google Chat to Unrestricted too.
- Status: Fix coming — a future update will take you straight to WristMSG’s own battery settings page, bypassing this list entirely.
Resolved Issues
Section titled “Resolved Issues”KI-001 · First reply is slow to open on some Samsung watches
Section titled “KI-001 · First reply is slow to open on some Samsung watches”- Affected: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 / Classic (and possibly other Samsung Wear OS watches)
- Symptom: The first time you tap a contact to reply, the screen may sit black/blank for a few seconds before the keyboard appears.
- Workaround: Wait a moment, or press back and tap the contact again — it opens instantly the second time.
- Cause: The watch’s on-screen keyboard cold-starts the first time it’s used in a session. This is the watch’s system keyboard loading, not WristMSG itself — once it’s “warmed up,” replies are fast.
- Status: Resolved
